Pros

Bonus and flexible working arrangements

Cons

Audit Seniors are expected to lead the engagement while many Managers do nothing, Managers take forever to review file and expect Senior to solve all the issues. There’s no proper communication of expectations and issues , yet when it comes to appraisal, all the negative comments against seniors are raised. It’s mentally demotivated to work in the backstabbing and gossiping environment where admin stays in office after work hours to chit chat to Managers and giving prejudiced comments about Seniors without even knowing the facts. Most nice people have left the Company. Not worth to jeopardise your mental wellness to work at GT Singapore as other Companies offer much better working environments than here.

Pros

Okay to start your career - carefully. Flexible Time Off & marginal retirement benefits.

Cons

Where to start.... Under paid & over worked. Expect 60 - 70 hours / week. Reduced staff with increased responsibilities. HR talks about culture, but there is none - it is all on paper. Management from top down is all being replaced and unstable. Managers and direct reports have no major interaction. Long timers don't really work or don't know what their role is. Management has no clue about high performers vs. sailors; and don't know how to balance costs. High churn of employees. What you see and hear is not what you get... Look somewhere else. Zero in people management and culture. You won't find any GREAT TIME in Here.

Lack of Transparency and Low Firm Performance

Pros

The people you work with are the reason to stay at Grant Thornton. You will get experience in areas that larger firms don't provide as early on. Partners are very approachable and are involved in client matters.

Cons

Firm Performance has been poor over the past few years, but is not communicated until very late in the year and compensation is ultimately affected. People who should be getting promoted at all levels of the firm are unable to because of these financial struggles. Very poor transparency of management and the partners on general firm strategy, growth, financial performance, and talent reviews. Culture has gone down hill as the firm shifts from a people first strategy to a growth and brand first strategy. Outside hires have a better chance of making it at Grant Thornton than campus hires because at least they are paid market rate for their work and can endure the minimal raises year over year with a higher salary than the rest of us who've stuck it out.
