Pros

If you get back to back calls you receive a decent paycheck.

Cons

Too much miscommunication from upper management. As work at home they were many issues, sometimes calls were not coming in, causing many frustrations between the employees. We had a interpreter portal that allowed us to communicate and read posts and had access to reference guide materials but the lack of communication of changes that were being made in the company was extreme, causing a negative impact on paychecks all the time. Also I was A "MSI' Medical Specialized Interpreter" but interpreted for ALL industries; government, finance, utilities, 911, legal, EVERYTHING.

Too much work for very bad pay

Pros

Work from home. You're close to your family. The experience acquired in interpretation.

Cons

There's no communication with management or any department because everything is done by request or email. The managers barely ever contact you and when they do they nick pick every single detail. What they don't consider is that we have so little breaks and so many calls, some of which extend 45 minutes in time, leave us mentally exhausted. I have to totally unwind after my shift because of the great stress created by rude clients, and rude people who speak your second language. I honestly feel like if this company expects perfection from employees. But they give back so little in the rate of pay, in not showing appreciation, in so many ways I can't even describe.

Pros

Language Line is a flexible company, extremely relaxed in many senses of the word. The primary pro is the fact that many interpreters get to work from home and the same goes for many of their employees.

Cons

That pro mentioned is also the con because that makes communication difficult. Upper-level management's communication with us at the bottom is not good or effective. There is a great dependency on support requests instead of actually having the contact information for who you'd like to speak with and that would be great if they were responded to in a timely manner. There are no true bonuses or corporate perks for the majority of employees. Most of the perks are geared at upper-management with 6 figure salary and not the company as a whole.
