Pros

They help the community by giving job training and helping people find jobs. Theey care about the welfare of there employees.

Because they are a non-profit the wages are lower than the same jobs at major companies which is understandable since they are a non profit

Pros

Work not too demanding, a few nice co-workers, good hours, and better-than-terrible pay. Most customers were honest and pleasant.

Cons

Assistant managers were REALLY petty and incompetent. I was embarrassed at times for the way they handled customer issues and, rather than try to problem-solve (basically their job), they would take minor perceived slights personally. I gave notice after finding another job, and the company asked for 2-weeks' notice, so I gave it. But when I had an issue with my register and my asst. manager was unable to straighten it out (something easily correctable which another asst. manager called "easy-peasy"), she lied and wrote me up for it. At that point I walked because I wouldn't sign the write-up. Finally, when I tried to locate my last paycheck I discover that they'd "assigned" me to a different location (20 miles away). All this with NO notice, and certainly not the 2 weeks I would have needed to utilize Goodwill as a reference.Thank goodness I had already found another job--which pays much better, btw--before I left! In short, they use "transfers" as punishment, basically, because they can and in lieu of any real management skill or ability. In retrospect, it seems to come from the top down. Run--don't walk--away!
