Pros

The overall goodwill mission is good and I like contributing to helping people in need and struggling financially.

Cons

The management is not great. They will routinely drop impossible time based tasks and get mad when they aren't completed. The production team is expected to do about 3 hours of work in 1 hour right at the beginning of the day and if you can't meet that goal then the managers get in a negative mood for the rest of the shift. Management will also add new small rules for the production team to follow then act like the new rules have always been in there and get upset when they aren't followed, (these are small rules like the orientation of clothing racks or the way you put tags on merchandise). The upper management will constantly increase expected production numbers while the people working in production are still unable to meet the previous numbers. The job will beat you down day after day and make you feel incompetent for it.

Pros

If you are down on your luck and going through hard time in life they have something called a good will way program which basically will give you up $3000 after working for them 90 days no strings attached as long as you can prove you're going through a bad time. If you choose to work here, i personally reccomend only working the 90 day mark and quitting immediately afterwards after you get that money do not stay it is not worth it. Goodwill will eat your soul alive and it will make you hate jobs after you work here. This job is not worth the amount of money that you're going to have to spend in therapy later.

Cons

Everything. The management is so unbelievably horrible all I can say is if you choose to work here good luck. If you try to talk about common sense with management they will give you the run around and talk in circles like word salad. You will not get in a word in edge wise. Here at goodwill management is always right and the customer's opinion doesn't matter at all. Also an explosion happened at this goodwill a white powder exploded into the air and caused all the employees at the location to not be able to breathe. A lot of people had thrown Burns and I had a huge burn on my face on the bridge of my nose from the mask they made us wear in the chemical filled air. They forced us to work the rest of the day after the explosion happened. A lot of people ended up with health problems breathing problems and other issues while working there. 90% quit. This new dark news article is all over the place online all you have to do is look up goodwill pewakee hazmat fire department. The goodwill in Pewaukee tried covering up what took place that day. But I remember. And if they ever try to come at me with a lawsuit for speaking. I have enough evidence to bury all their goodwill locations in a hefty lawsuit for all of the trauma I endured there physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally. Also if you go to HR for anything they will gaslight you they will not help you they are not there to help you they are there to protect the company. Goodwill does not care about your health it does not care about your safety it does not care about your happiness. The only thing that you're going to do when you get off work is trying to cope with the level of stress that you are feeling solely from working at this soul sucking company. Oh and they also force you to do a certain number of product per hour last time I talked to somebody it was 80 pieces per hour but I've heard from other people that it's up to a 100 now. And if you don't get that amount they have somebody come and talk to you about how you need to do a better job and will continue coaching you and basically threaten you that you will be fired if you don't get up to the level that they want you at. This job is not worth $13 an hour. If I had to put a price on this job the minimum they should be offering is $27 an hour for all the bad stuff that you will go through during an 8 hour workshift. Before you consider working at Goodwill did you know that Panda Express paid $17 an hour McDonald's pay $16 and Hobby Lobby pays $18 an hour. Remember that before you choose to work at Goodwill. Because you can do better and you deserve better. Also look up the amount of money that the CEO of goodwill has versus how much he pays workers you tell me if that's fair. Even worse Goodwill does not help people in need. "They advertise" themselves as caring for people that are disabled or have disabilities or people that are struggling financially like homeless people they don't help anybody but their pockets. There was a lot of horrific things I witnessed and documented that goodwill does to their employees with disabilities. Oh and also every time you donate to goodwill when they ask you if you want a round up that money does not go to the employees that money goes straight to the CEO they do not help anybody truly in need besides their own. The managers are extremely greedy and anything that they can possibly sell for a higher price they will. One time I literally priced a shirt $4.99 and they upriced it to $20.99 bucks. Disgusting. This store is so greedy that they should call it greedwill not goodwill greedwill.

100% turnover rate

Pros

The sales associates I managed were kind, hard workers.

Cons

Goodwill leadership thrives in chaos and that’s how they likes it. That way no one pays too close attention to their incompetence as leaders. The CEO and everyone else in the company office are overpaid and get giant bonuses if Goodwill stores makes more money. They use intimidation and threats to keep store managers fearful of being fired. Same with store associates. There is 100% turnover rate in most positions because of the chaos and stress they create.
