Not worth it in any way

Pros

I got this job because I'm a felon and it was a shoo-in. I have had many opportunities to learn new skills and bring in a paycheck in a system built against me.

Cons

The management, from local to corporate, has no idea at all what they are doing. On a regular basis, at any given location, product (un/sorted), salvage goods, and furniture donations are backed up to a hazardous level. When it gets to that level, I am told there will be consequences if I cannot rectify the situation, while still receiving more donations, because as a storefront, we are not allowed to turn away any donation that isnt illegal or hazardous. As well, there are production goals, which is understandable, except when you realize it's purely donation based, meaning there may not be enough product to make the goal at all, or there may be enough product, but it doesn't measure up to Goodwill's near perfect expectation of all their product. If the quality drops, and we make goal with that "bad" product, we are still in trouble for that. This job has made me physically ill to the point of flulike symptoms, severe constipation, and vomiting, all during and days after work. When I bring up that I am ill and need to take care of myself, I am told to make it through the day and to not call out the following. I have also been told "no" on occasions when I have attempted to call out of work. On the subject of management again, it took seven whole months of working the appropriate hours and performing all of the job requirements before I was offered to become full time, and given benefits. This is not a place I would recommend anyone to work at, not even my worst of enemies.

Pros

Helping people, great team in HR.

Cons

The promotion of incompetent people into positions with little to no knowledge or training, they play favorites and you either comply or leave..."position elimination" is my favorite!! The best way to describe their business culture is "confused". They will jump into projects without preparation or a clear outcome in mind, ramp up and throw tons of money at a project, only to haphazardly abandon the project before it's completed or tested.

I quit after a couple of days

Pros

Maybe the discount? Other than that there is none.

Cons

Every employee is unfriendly. They train horribly. Made me work by myself on the register with no back up and a brief training. Had to respond to to mod pages on the first day by myself while the other manager was on lunch which I had no training for any of there return policy’s or anything yet. They were going to have me work as the only manager closing the following week after I got hired even though I told them I need more time to learn everything. There where many steps to closing, takes almost an hour to do. Also the managers would tell me they have to call the cops constantly on customers. Lots of theft and drugs and crazy situations that go on everyday. Smells horrible in the store as well. I quit my last job without having a new one and they where the first to offer me one so I took it but regretted it right after. It was just miserable, worst job I ever had. Quit and got a way better supervisor job after a couple weeks and so beyond glad I did.
