Pros

Work from home. No commute.

Cons

I have been working for this company for more than a decade. For the last ten years, give or take, I worked only 3 days a week – 24 hours. Recently, the management decided to cut the hours of the interpreters but does it selectively. Instead of reducing the hours of FT employees, they cut my hours from 24 hours per week to 14 hours. To add insult to injury, they gave additional hours to other employees for the time that I was supposed to work! I have screenshots to prove this. My set of languages includes a rare one in addition to a popular language. There were many times that customers could not find interpreters of this particular language. In order to address this injustice, I contacted the management on 7-10-2023. NONE of them responded to my query! I feel extremely discriminated against and ignored.

We take particular objection to the assertion of discrimination. As a company that supports more than 240 languages, we are diverse by design. Multiculturalism is our lifeblood. LLS uses a strict standard of call handling protocol that has been refined over the past 41 years and has been validated by numerous outside agencies, including “Great Place to Work.” The Great Place to Work” distinction is earned directly from our employees and the feedback shared. Calls are routed based on business needs and interpreter skillset. If you would like to discuss further, please email interpretercommunications@languageline.com.

What an awful company

Pros

You get treated like a cog in the machine, its hard to maintain you sanity after a few months because the calls are back to back to back to back to back and they won't hire anymore employees so there's always so little interpreters on the call cycle...

Cons

The pay is also dismal for the intensity and high volume of calls you get.

We are always striving to be better for the employees who are LanguageLine’s core. After doing an extensive evaluation of our pay and benefits in comparison to other employers in our business, we find that our compensation and benefits, while not above average, are consistent with the industry. Please note: we regularly review industry compensation. If you would like to discuss further, please email interpretercommunications@languageline.com.
