Good Entry Job

Pros

They take people with no experience

Cons

Prepare to become a slave. There are no opportunities for growth in the company and they give you more responsibilities but not reward. No vacation. Days off policy is very unhelpful.

Pros

- Effective communication. - Good compensation. - Advancement opportunities. - Great family/work balance. - Supportive environment (approve personal and sick time requests, offer debriefing sessions after 9-1-1 calls, etc.) - Continuing education and training (to improve interpreting skills, terminology, industry-specific processes and procedures, etc., - there are many resources available in the LLS portal). - Helping people communicate - Work from home!

Cons

I see many complaining about the specifics of the job (i.e. "not enough pay for the job) and lack of benefits; reviews that don't address other aspects of the company at all. Well, the job is not for if what you're looking for is an easy job with benefits. Interpretation is already mentally taxing enough - you should at least have an idea of what to expect and be mentally prepared for this job before you take it. In addition, you can ask/discuss benefits BEFORE taking the job. In addition, this is an entry-level job that only requires a high school diploma and not a bachelor's degree like other translation/interpretation jobs. With that said, this is a great company to start your interpreting career at an entry-level; but you have to be able enjoy it (just like with any other job), otherwise you'll be miserable and blame it, unfairly, on the company. Know the company and the job - do your research.
