Pros

Work at home, not having to deal with commute.

Cons

Other than the pros listed above, there is no other good thing to say about the company. Crappy pay and even reduce your rate. I had been working for a company called Tele-Interpreters, and later purchased by LLS. I was paid at a rate of 50 cents a minutes (which was low but I can accepted it). Been working for them for about 3 years and then when LLS purchased them, they had to reduce my rate from 50 cents to 35 cents/minutes. The reason (or excuse) they told us for the reduced rate was economic hardship. COME ON LLS, you guys have been ripped the government and private agencies off by charging them $3 to $4 and even $5 a minute. YOU can't even afford to pay your employee 50 cents or that??? So I quit my job and working for Pacific Interpreter and get 60 cents a minute now. However, last December, again, LLS purchased Pacific. Now they are thinking to merge both interpreters into one by paying us AGAIN CRAPPY rate of $14/hour which if you divide 14 by 60, it would be 23.33 cents a minutes. 23 cents COMMON LLS how much respect did you give to your interpreters??? You are depend on us to make you rich and you can't even afford to pay us more than 23 cents a minutes????? My advice is if you are a new interpreter and need some experience, then work for them. However, let you tell you be ready to drink a lot water. Their $14/hour is hard working money. They expect you to take a load of calls non stop. Once you have experience, QUIT and look for something better. They expect you a lot from you and give you almost nothing.

Pros

None. This company is very bad.

Cons

Terrible company. You answer calls every 15 seconds for a wide range of industries (medical, insurance, law, education, pharmaceutical). You don’t have the ability to screen calls or focus on any one area of expertise. The client has a “clean desk” policy meaning you're not allowed to have anything open in your computer, including glossaries so you have to be an expert in everything, including highly technical or specific terminology in a wide range of fields. There is no support whatsoever besides a “contact agent” option where you can transfer the call if there is an issue but are warned if you transfer too many calls you can be fired. You have no manager, no team, and no one to help you. You have forced overtime because you're not allowed to log out of the phone system until the last second of your shift so if you get a call 1 minute before the end of your shift and it lasts for an hour, well too bad for you. Even worse, most employees are hired through the dreaded Kelly Services who still thinks we live in the 1950s and tells you you’ll need a doctor’s note for an absence. The real cherry on the cake though is when you find out they charge 240 for an hour of interpreting but pay you only 15, less than people make working at my local grocery store (no disrespect to them but they aren't answering 911 calls). Run away from this company.

Pros

There's actually no benefit except to learn more terms in target language

Cons

It basically is a slavery job( being honest). They don't look at your qualifications or nothing they just want you to interpret. Once your in you will interpret for 8 hours and come out with a headache and stressed out as to the 80+ calls you will have on average date. The clients that you will be working alongside have no respect for you and expect unrealistic expectations in explaining and elaborating but you can only interpret. By the way they will coach you every 3 months tomake sure you are interpreting as a robot accurately and without no mistakes. Also the management is very disoriented and don't know how to run the center, the only way to actually become a team leader is because they etheir favoritize you or you know them well . Theres absolutely no economic growth , opportunities , you get the minimum value of benefits which is the lowest they can provide , and you get no paid vacations on top of that. Please do no make the mistake to ever work for this company. I can honestly say I would kick my head 1000 times before I even work for this company ever. I wouldn't even give this job a 1 star out 5.
