Pros

It’s remote, best part about the job

Cons

High calls volume, low pay. Calls ALWAYS go over your scheduled time and you don’t get compensated for OT OR HOLIDAYS. Unprofessional staffs (especially during training sessions). Expect you to handle calls of all nature, from insurance to government calls. Will force you to “level up” against your will (as in if you’re already L4 - qualified to take medical calls at the time you’re hired and initially trained, they will force you to train for L5 - legal calls, and eventually train you to take USCIS and FEMA calls). Not to mention, they only give you LITERALLY 2 days notice before your supposed new training starts. Some trainers are nice, some will talk just to hear themselves talk. Had one trainer shared something super personal and traumatic about his life in the middle of training… Emailed riddled with grammatical mistakes and misinformation - just shows you how much they pay attention to their job. Ok starting position if you actually like being an interpreter. But if you’re just looking to make some money and not passionate about this line of work, please please please try elsewhere. This place will drain you.

Pros

It is remote. That is the only pro.

Cons

Working at home as an interpreter for Languageline Solutions, is the worst job in the world. You need listen to peoples issues and naturally become depressed. You will hate it, do not do it! Languageline Solutions treats interpreters like slaves. They will bully you, constantly give you threats that they will fire you for having short calls when that is not your fault. To them, you are replaceable. They do not care about you at all. They will dispose of you whenever they desire, as they did me. I'm glad though, I am no longer threatened nor bullied by them. The pay is very low compared to the job itself. Very mentally draining. I am on 2 mental health medications because of the job and the way they mistreated me.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Our interpreters meet the industry’s highest standards, earning the privilege to interpret for our clients and the communities they serve. LLS uses a strict standard of call handling protocol that has been refined over the past 41 years and has been validated by numerous outside agencies, including “Great Place to Work.” The Great Place to Work” distinction is earned directly from our employees and the feedback shared. As a “Great Place to Work” we really care about our interpreters and are continuously working on improvements. Unfortunately, it was not a good fit for you. We wish you well in your future endeavors.

Pros

glad its flexible and its job from home, it takes me 2 min to get to my work place its very independent ; I m supervised but its remote and I m not bothered if its not needed; I know what I need to do and how

Cons

they are paying too freaking little baring in mind that russian is very very in demand language to translate ; lots of calls, they are constantly asking us to work overtime because there is a big demand but not willing to pay min wage I was paid for almost 2 years basic $14 an hour, then they raised to $15 and recently jumped to $18 but as a part time employee I don't get paid time off ; I dont get paid sick time, I dont get insurance, I dont get any benefits beside only 401k ; we work all holidays there is no extra pay for those either and if you work over time ... no extra pay just your normal regular pay FEMA calls paid almost $30 an hour but you often dont know what calls are FEMa and we dont get them that much ; i keep hearing that Spanish interpreters paid like 30-36$ an hour, arabic paid more as well now Russian interpreters are even more in demand coz lots of Ukrainian ppl all over the world speak often russian too and its an options for them to communicate they need to pay more!!! I mean someone with two language skills should be able to make more money than a barista ... they want us to know all the terms and medical and legal and banks and insurance but pay us like we were good after 4 hours training
