Need experience? need work from home?

Pros

-Work here to get expererience -Work from the comfort of your home

Cons

I've been working here since 2015 almost 4 years now. I like the fact that I work from home. Other than that, No PTO No sick time No promotion Very low pay Very difficult to talk to management. I haven't talked to them in almost 4 years (I'm not saying email but speaking to) No raise (as a matter of fact I'm making less now than when I first started because they decided to pay me $14 and hr when they were paying me based on the length of the call I was making more). They like to threaten you with termination when they decide to give you another task. For example when they decided to give me a fixed rate, they said take it or lose your job. Then, I was taking audio calls only. They decided to have me take video calls as well and said you have to do it or you'll be terminated. As an employee, your life doesn't matter. So as long as all you want is to work for home (and have time for other activities like me) or work to acquire experience and get a better paid job as an interpreter with a different company, then you can work here.

Zero communication and No Support!

Pros

Work at home, must be a self starter.

Cons

Everything else. The lack of communication was discouraging. Could never connect with a human. The company expected a full commitment from you but did not have any commitment to you.

Pros

It provides you the comfort of staying home and there is no one breathing down your back. They have pretty flexible schedules that give you the weekend off.

Cons

It is a stagnant position where there is no growth and the company does not offer any raises regardless of skill level or seniority. They have many technical issues and if these issues hinder you from working you will not be compensated for it. They have no paid vacations, holiday pay and lack the basic benefits other companies offer. The compensation is mediocre, it is definitely not a job for professional interpreters. All communication needs to be done through email and if you call the help desk they have horrible service and act as if you are bothering you. As to the job itself, the calls are back to back giving the interpreter little to no breathing time because of this the quality of the interpretation is affected. I knew if times that the spanish line was swamped with back to back calls while the contractors had no calls just so they dont have to pay the contractors. Overall, I can say that it is a job to get by temporarily if you need to stay home for sometime but do not settle, there are so much better opportunities.
