Pros

If you are a beginner, LLS is a good company to start with. The company provides excellent training and offers very heavy workload, which helps polishing your skills and gaining valuable experience.

Cons

Once you’ve developed your capabilities, you can move on to better-Paying and more decently treated positions. Consider LLS as a training ground for your career in interpreting.

Pros

You learn that you can Interpret * if you are fully bilingual, They offer training as well.

Cons

The pay is low and they demand a very high professional service, Calls are one after the other and just like a 12 seconds between calls, 1 Break for 15 min lunch 30 min and thats all the breaks you get working 7 1/2 hours. If you take more time off, it can lead to problems (they discount that lunch break from pay check)

Pros

Previous experience is not a requirement and they provide training, so it's a great place to start off.

Cons

For Mexico, the salary is great for a relatively inexpensive city but kind of low for more expensive cities.

Pros

- Good Medical and Dental benefits - Work from home, no commute - Fixed schedule, no after-work responsibilities - paid time-off (but sometimes late paid] - option for additional hours

Cons

- Zero pay raise since start of employment - No pay-raise system (LLS keep giving false promises that it "may" rise in "near" future) - High stress calls and back-to-back calls. - No RRSP/pension plans for Canadian employees - Occasional late payment on the promised vacation pay, incentive pay and accrued time-off pay. - Lack of training and briefing to some of our clients (the users of our service) some of them don't even know how work with interpreters. - Focusing more on customer service than interpretation quality

Though these words are difficult to read, we will reflect upon them and use them as an opportunity to improve. We are always striving to be better for the employees who are LanguageLine’s core. After doing an extensive evaluation of our pay and benefits in comparison to other employers in our business, we find that our compensation and benefits, while not above average, are consistent with the industry. Please note we regularly review industry compensation. If you would like to discuss further, please email interpretercommunications@languageline.com.
