Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We're glad to hear you appreciate the remote work setup, training, and consistent performance feedback—we’re committed to helping our interpreters grow and succeed. Part-time employees don’t receive benefits, and we understand this can be a drawback. As for the support request system, we recognize it may feel impersonal at times, but with a large population of interpreters, this system helps us ensure everyone’s inquiries are addressed efficiently. We also understand the challenges around scheduling time off, and we’re always looking for ways to improve. Your feedback helps us work toward a better experience for all our interpreters—thank you for being part of our team!

Poorly designed training

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

Easy application through another labor placement agency

Cons

1. As titled, very poorly designed training which shows how much they don't care about their employees. 2. You have to purchase your own equipment for work. 3. They do have some restrictions on what technology or equipment (i.e. a specific brand of cell phone), but the recruiter told me there was no restrictions. 4. Remote jobs like this list being home as one of the pros, but you have to pay for the electricity and the equipment wear and tear without any compensation. You can't even write it off the tax return under current tax regulations. 5. The break policies don't seem to consider the health hazard that could be caused by wearing headsets for long hours. There should be microbreaks built in the schedule to avoid occupational health issues. Maybe that's why they don't hire anybody from California because the labor laws tend to be stricter there. This rating/review is only about the mandatory training that the company provides. However, based on the quality of the training, I don't anticipate that this company will care much about its employees.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We appreciate your perspective and understand that training is a critical part of the employee experience. We continually evaluate and refine our training programs to ensure they are effective, engaging, and supportive of our employees’ success. Regarding equipment and technology requirements, we strive to provide clear guidelines upfront to prevent any misunderstandings. It is unfortunate there may be miscommunication during your hiring process. We also recognize the importance of work-life balance and employee well-being. While our scheduling policies are designed to align with business needs, we understand the value of microbreaks and they are available. We appreciate your input and will continue to work towards improving the employee experience. If you would like to provide additional details or discuss your concerns further, we encourage you to reach out to us directly.

Pros

The paid training is worthy, and the workload is actually not as bad as described. So far I like it.

Cons

It's not so "remotely" remote.

Thank you for sharing your experience—we're glad to hear you're enjoying the paid training and that the workload has felt manageable for you so far. It’s always great to hear when expectations are exceeded in a positive way! We noticed your comment about the remote aspect of the role. While our interpreters do work from home, we know there can be elements of the job that feel more structured or connected than some might expect from a typical remote position. If you’d like to share more about what “remotely remote” means for you, we’d really appreciate the insight. Please feel free to reach out to us at InterpreterCommunications@languageline.com.

For the experience

Pros

Experience with all sectors of society: medical, judicial, insurance, etc. Dedicated hours per each week

Cons

No limit on one phone call, so one call at the beginning of the shift can take the entire 5hr shift (if working part time) which is exhausting. Lack of appropriate resources and training for certain languages.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We're glad to hear that you valued the opportunity to work across various sectors and have dedicated hours each week. We understand that long calls can be challenging, especially during extended shifts. We continuously review interpreter support resources and training programs, and your feedback helps us identify areas for improvement—particularly for languages that may require additional resources. We appreciate your input on training and workshops and will share it with our team as we work to enhance interpreter preparedness. Thank you for your contributions, and we wish you continued success in your career.

Pros

Honestly, I struggle to find any positives about this job. While remote work is often seen as a benefit, working this job might make you question that belief entirely. Some of my colleagues have even developed mental health issues due to the demands of this role, and, unsurprisingly, the company provides no support or assistance to address these challenges.

Cons

The training provided was extremely basic. For those without a medical background, you're often left to figure things out on your own. While they claim to offer resources on the portal, these are only available in English with no translations provided, and using tools like Google Translate is not allowed. If you reach out for clarification or additional details, your inquiries are typically ignored.
