Low wage no support

Pros

The job is remote and you save money on gas.

Cons

They lied! They said that after the 6th month mark of employment that you would become an L4 (Medical Interpreter) I’ve been here 1 year and no advancement. The app is constantly crashing and disconnecting calls and they try to blame your service provider even after you’ve done everything possible on your end and they don’t pay you that time of app malfunction. You get back to back calls with very low wage while other interpreter languages get paid way more. Live chat staff majority of the time are no good help either most are located in Costa Rica HQ and Live Help won’t answer you during a call transfer a lot of the times, it’s happened multiple times. They also begin to assign you days off during the week. Do not recommend.

Our interpreters are the core and meet the industry’s highest standards, earning the privilege to interpret for our clients and the communities they serve. LLS uses a strict standard of call handling protocol that has been refined over the past 41 years and has been validated by numerous outside agencies. Promotions are based on business needs and interpreter skillset. After doing an extensive evaluation of our pay and benefits in comparison to other employers in our business, we find that our compensation and benefits, while not above average, are consistent with the industry. Please note we regularly review industry compensation. Additionally, we have many other resources available to support you with technical issues. If you would like to discuss further, please email interpretercommunications@languageline.com.

Pros

Nothing except you can work from home

Cons

Extremely LOW pay to have to learn all medical terminology for $20 per hour after working for 4 years! Don’t waste your time find a more rewarding career!! Like Starbucks pay stocks options and you get paid $21 per hour without having to deal with crazy sick patients and rude clients who disrespect you very often!!! My advice is stay away don’t waste your time absolutely NOT WORTH it period!

low ball

Pros

a part-time job that you can have on the side; if you speak a language fluently, it usually does not require too much of your intellect nor energy (although things can get stressful and tiring at times, and there are some difficult calls that require focus, patience, and composure). I can't imagine someone would want to work full-time for LLS or treat it as their career. No opportunities for growth, for collaboration, for making any connections with co-workers, or even speaking to your supervisor. In fact, you don't have a supervisor. At best you can talk to some AI/ computer. Or create some ridiculous support tickets whenever you need to sneeze...

Cons

Very low pay and practically no benefits. No vacation. You pay for your own internet connection, you have to work on holidays without extra pay, and you have to spend hours/ fill in tons of paperwork if you want to take any, unpaid, time off.
