Pros

- a work at home job that is not in sales - be able to help people to bridge language barrier - you can pick your own hours

Cons

-once you have your hours set, it is very difficult to change - no sick leave at all. I am reprimanded for my attendance because I took too many absences due to sickness (from kids). Never mind you lost your voice and can't talk or your child is seriously ill in hospital, it counts as absences and goes on your record. - no communications/recognitions from management for job well done -low pay but expecting high quality work I've been working for LLS for several years. I quit when I had my baby because they are very unlikely to keep me when I take my leave to care for my baby. I came back several months later due to necessity. I have gone through some trainings twice. The training second time through is so watered down that they might just tell us to read the materials ourselves. There is no additional training to boost our skills besides the initial one. The longer I work here, the more dissatisfied I am. We are just an ID number to them.

Pros

You can work from home. Nothing Else.

Cons

VERY low pay, NO raises ever, Quality Evaluations that almost always say "Meets Expectations" for everyone, no matter how good and skilled you are. They also send you Court Calls without any Training - considering how high-stakes these hearings are, this is highly irresponsible and unethical! If you request court training, they will turn you down. Yet they will provide the training to new interpreters. After approving your paid time off, they will reverse it without any notice. They pay you less than what companies pay bilingual Customer Service Agents. Benefits: Health insurance is a joke. After working for them for years, they will NEVER give you a raise, even if you request it. In fact, if you ask for anything, the answer is ALWAYS NO. They retaliate against employees who are trying to form a union. If you interpret verbatim, they will write you up for interpreting profanities (which should be interpreted). They value customer service more than accurate interpretation.

Thank you for sharing your feedback and for your many years of interpreting experience. Your perspective on training, communication, and support is valuable, and we take such input seriously. As interpreters who work through partner organizations are supported directly by those partners, we encourage you to reach out to your hiring partner to discuss your specific concerns. We appreciate the important work you do to help people communicate every day.

Cons

A long list 1) bad pay for the difficult medical terminology you must know it all 2) back to back calls with only 15 minutes break in 4 hours! 3) The medical insurance do not cover any medical bills and hospitalization!Don’t waste $$ on first health insurance is a joke.
