Pros

What kind of company forces it's salaried staff at the home office in Monterey, CA to go online and post phony positive reviews? Language Line! Hence the ridiculous posts where some people say they think they are paid "too much." Well that could ONLY be corporate staff because 99% of the staff makes minumum wage without benefits, vacation time, sick days, etc.

Cons

Being exploited, being unappreciated, being a part of a revolving door call center company that pimped out the interpretation industry, being part of the problem by accepting their horrible wages, being undervalued, having no hope of career advancement, having to put up with call center supervisors based, I mean supurvisors, who evaluate you when in fact they don't know what they are talking about....just to name a few.

Pros

You get paid hourly.

Cons

They don’t pay enough. If you get a complaint from a customer they will side with them, you will be treated as trash.

Pros

-Excellent life-work balance, you work at home so there is no commute time so you get to eat with the family during lunch time and enjoy the full hours after the shift is over -2 days off per week -Great pay for the type of job -All of your equipment cost such as the phone and phone service are paid for during the first three months -You get feedback during the ending of each month that rates how you did and where you need to improve, it's all friendly and constructive, at least my supervisor was -You can put in more hours which has very good wages for overtime -They have a very wonderful interactive system and a good library that helps you do your job better and slightly easier

Cons

-Eventually you'll have to switch to a video module based work system and have to pay for internet out of your own pocket which won't be covered by the company -The stress is unbelievably high, if you want to work as a home based interpreter I suggest you look up the term "vicarious stress" and look up the first links that show up, you'll definitely experience it first hand here -There is no real "workplace environment" so to speak since you work at home there are no coworkers, managers, etc. I guess that could be a pro if you don't like socializing -Just like LLS, other american companies outsource all their retail and telecomm services, thus you will often have to interpret calls for people that speak very poor English especially if they're from an asian country such as India which just ups your stress by %5000 -Contract gets renewed yearly which means that you won't ever be able to have a "permanent" place with the company, and growth is close to none-existant -Also if and when you quit they won't respect the "2 weeks" that they supposedly ask from you to find a suitable replacement. Once you ask to quit that's your last minute working with them so make sure that you really want to quit at the specific day that you ask for it
